@TheJsmitty85 The two after turrets from Arizona were installed as shore batteries on the island. One of the two batteries was completed and the guns test fired shortly before V-J day. The US never really went in for monitors in the 20th century. One possibility is the glacial speed of the things. Most of the RN monitors seemed to top out around 8-12kts. A monitor that slow would be really tedious to cross the Pacific in. Besides, the USN had lots of old, slow, battleships for fire support.
