HMS Raglan, one of the monitors fitted with a twin 14" turret The Admiralty purchased from Bethlehem Steel in the US, and M28, armed with a 9.2" gun, were attacked by the Ottoman battlecruser Yavûz Sultân Selîm, formerly the German battlecruiser Goeben and the cruiser Midilli, ex-German Breslau. Both monitors were sunk. Raglan did return fire, but scored no hits before it was knocked out.
