@brendonbewersdorf986 the Greek Hydra class ships were still in service during WWI. According to Wiki they were restricted to coastal defense.

@DrSid42 Depending on the size of ship, a cabin cruiser would be for the top brass. In the USN. for the captain of the ship, the cruiser is called the "captain's gig". For an admiral, the cruiser is called a "barge". At least in my day, the two were easily distinguishable: a captain's gig was painted grey, an admiral's barge was black with a white superstructure. Besides that, a ship could carry a variety of motor whaleboats or motor launches for carrying the crew to/from shore (liberty launch), delivering mail and similar errands.

@brendonbewersdorf986 Navypedia says all three were removed from the active list in 1919. One persisted as a gunnery school until scrapped in 1929. One persisted as a communications school until scrapped in 29. One persisted as a boy's school until scrapped in 1932.
