So, to remedy the problems of a multiethnic empire create at least 3 multiethnic states, without referenda in the areas but disregarding local economic "supply grids", all to create a buffer zone against Soviet Russia. And while the Monarchy was capable to built - say - dreadnought battleships, none of the successor states could as they were and are individually weaker both economically and military against the USSR - and of course the soon rising "Naughty" Germany. After the gig, the old black man just vanished and the crew was searching for him desperately.
