"Now that the supply is almost back to normal the stores have decided to keep the prices higher just because they can." Wrong. The reason prices haven't come down is because of all the money created out of thin air we called "stimulus checks". The instant that money was created, the money you had became worth less than before it was created. Your dollar bought less because it was worth less. Along with that, the supply chain is still getting sorted out. Some things are just more scarce than before the pandemic. More scarce means higher price. "We are at their mercy" Wrong. Prices are set the same way today that they have been since the beginning of the free market system. Companies will raise their prices until sales start to fall off. When sales fall off, they stop raising the price. Simple economics.
