  5.  @ChiaraVet More specifically, wars end when either one party completely subdues the other or the expected economic return of waging war becomes negative for both parties. In simpler words, war is viewed as profitable. When the (prospects of) profits end, war ends. If only most people who are actually serving in military (for their own profit) or being forced to serve (because of the inherent thuggery of the "state" in which their live) understood this, we would have no wars.

  26. "Deterrence" or calling outsiders the bad guys (mutually) is a time-proved military strategy of how to extract resources from the rest of humanity into (friends of) the military. In that sense they are not any different from mafia. In fact, the reason why mafia is deemed criminal is that they are considered an inferior competition by the real entrenched thugs. Given that this strategy has always worked and still works today, I think we have a very dim outlook indeed.
