Drop the naivety. Economic undertakings in capitalism are never aiming to help the poor. But as history shows the poor are nevertheless helped a lot just as a side effect of implementing such plans. That's how real technological progress works, not by some communist idealist redistribution.

If you consider how much money governments have blown in the past two years for nothing and how much they are going to blow for WAR, the development of Concorde was peanuts in comparison.

Humanity: can design marvelous weapons in secrecy to spy on and kill people. Can't develop a cure for a disease without stopping the entire planet first.

"Germany" does not really hate nuclear power. Some dumb politicians and 15% of dumb people in Germany do, but that is enough to make dumb decisions at present.

The one trait which unites Germany is their phobia of practically everything. Combined with low intellect it enables the population to be easily manipulated into doing as they are told. This proved governing technique works 100% of the time, as we have most recently seen during "pandemic".

The reason why Germany is destroying its energy infrastructure are pressures from the US. US wants to sell their dirty liquid gas. Also US is not happy with Germany having attempted energy independence against US' explicit instructions. So together with their friends they blew up the German gas pipeline to teach them a lesson. To the stupid German (green) population a case about the "dangers" of nuclear plants was made, despite the fact that the "alternatives" (coal, LNG) are much less green. Who knows, maybe they will blow up the Zaporizhzhia plant as well just to prove their point. The true reason is 100% about US economic interests and has nothing to do with the merits of the technology. Consider also that Russia controls much of the uranium market. It just can't be allowed that countries are importing their fuels from non-US-approved sources.
