Actually that's what dole is supposed to do - motivate you to get out of that situation. Not a system where ever more people do nothing because being on benefits pays better than work.

shamonagetonup Shamona, fortunately this attitude ("if I was paid big enough dole I would not even work") will cause the system to collapse upon itself, leading to results like shown in this video.

@Stella Lieza Please grow up, the government is not paying or compensating for anything. The government does not produce anything. At best, they order other people to produce and make it easier for them to do so through administration. At worst, they are just parasites living off other people's work and threatening them with violence.

@demonbasher23 If you want a situation which someone cannot foresee - those exist too - like random accidents or being born with a permanent disability. For these cases we have insurance, not for people who (supposedly) worked their whole life and only "forgot" to make savings.

Same people who believe that doctors want to hurt them because it's in doctor's self-interest to make people sick. I propose the next time they get seriously sick they don't get any treatment or let their non-expert neighbor operate them instead of a surgeon. Because after all, history shows that medical professionals make so many mistakes. A moron has more authority than an expert for sure.

Actually, it's one of the benefits - finally all these people can do something with their life instead of wasting time to worship an idol clown. Even lying on the floor and staring at the ceiling is more productive than going to meet him.

Guess what, we've been always having flu epidemics and this one, although not flu, is not so much different. Except for the media scare and for the huge misinformation combined with global push to sell the newly patented PCR tests - this bs has not happened with swine flu because the tests have not existed yet then; and also humanity was not as well conditioned for fear back then as it is now (gotta win this upcoming election somehow, right?)

They are not "dead from coronavirus". They are dead and coronavirus has been found in their bodies. Which is a BIG difference. If we did not have the PCR test (like a last year), these people would instead be "dead from a respiratory infection", "dead from pneumonia", "dead from ARDS" and other such. But today they are all called "dead from coronavirus". This madness has to stop.

@markgallagher5908 They do not "choose" to be so, but in most cases through their own behavior they cause it so and then unashamedly blame others or "the system" as may be. Cases of real bad luck exist, but are very rare in comparison to the usual scenario (of mismanaging your own money, producing offspring despite not being economically able to raise it, having an addiction, refusing advice/help from others etc. etc.)

It would be easier to be empathetic if not for the fact that the majority of these people would gladly steal (e.g. through taxes, communist-style redistribution) anything what others have earned - and spend it on stuff like alcohol or cigs. If you consider that, they no longer appear so pitiable.

@Cristina Timaru If this was the case, we would have no flu season every year - because the ill people would just eventually get better (or die) and the virus would never return. Apparently what happens is that some small number of people always remain infected in the population (maybe your immune system suppresses it to the point you have no symptoms, but the virus stays there?), and also these viruses mutate and come back to infect others. The containment measures won't eliminate this virus and most likely we won't have a cure for it (just like we don't have a cure for flu). The only valid argument is that they win time to prevent all people getting sick at once and overwhelming hospitals. But it is hard to tell whether the virus is really that dangerous or whether the hospitals are being overwhelmed because so many more people are admitted to them because of the panic (whether they need hospital treatment or not) and perhaps also catch some other disease while they are being treated there. The fact is that because of the new testing, many people who die from other infections are now classified as covid casualties.

@Isleofskye You know how this works, right? If someone dies of any respiratory problem, and they have found a virus in the body, it's automatically classified as death "because of the virus". If you looked at deaths in previous years, you would get a similar picture - except that you would not have found the virus because (1) there was no testing and (2) the virus did not exist yet. But overall, the problem is that the counted deaths are not people who "were healthy, contracted the virus, and then died", it includes people who were sick before, would have died anyway, and contracted the virus because of the new corona patients being around them.

@Isleofskye BTW, the normal flu season is slowly ending. I bet this will result in a magical reduction of the "coronavirus deaths" during the upcoming weeks, which will then be touted as a great victory of all the "measures against the terrible coronavirus" by the politicians.

@Isleofskye I'm not saying that all the deaths are because of co-morbidity from flu, just hinting at the possibility that the official statistics may be way off, which is not mentioned anywhere (not even in a footnote in the trackers that show the terrifying charts, published by the "respectable" scientific sources). And as for other, mostly preventible lifestyle diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, yes, this is also a sad testament about how those who have ruined their health are now making the rest of the society pay for their past mistakes to rescue them. You won't hear this argument from anyone beside a semi-anonymous YouTube commenter because it is entirely politically incorrect. Something could also be said about meat consumption without which the coronavirus would likely not have emerged in the first place (as is also the case for other animal-borne diseases). This is also not a topic in the public discussion; because we all "need" our pork steak etc. just as the Chinese people "need" their bat/pangolin wet markets. There's plenty of topics that are entirely absent from the news because they are not in line with the official "humanity vs. coronavirus" story spun to justify an extreme waste of resources that is going on these days. This official narration is crucial to keep in the office those who (under media and public pressure, no doubt) caused most of this chaos.
