@XMaster340 EU has laws that require certain levels of insulation etc. (which only don't apply if the building is protected as antique). You cannot realistically meet these obligations by just patching up an old building. If there is wet walls and fungus involved, these buildings are also a health hazard to live in. You could have bought many former rail station buildings in Germany for a couple hundred Euro. The laws are so that you are forced to either renovate or remove it after the purchase by spending hundreds of thousands of Euro out of your pocket. If you attempt to just live in such dilapidated buildings, you will be infinitely pestered and fined by local authorities. There's also laws making you liable if the building that you own collapses and falls onto the sidewalk. There are nightmare stories about people who bought these "opportunities" and then were forced into bankruptcy unable to restore them.

@DBT1007 You don't have a "house to renovate from zero", you have a pile of rubble to remove to build a new one.

That is the propaganda purpose of such poverty porn videos. To make you pleased with whatever little YOU have and stop thinking about obtaining more. And most importantly listen to whatever the authorities say is good for you.

Ok, thanks, I was not aware there was some fascist monopoly company behind these fruit. Now I will pay attention not to buy them.

If you laugh at these people collecting toys, consider that today people invest in virtual crap like "bitcoins" which you cannot even look at.

lol you can buy a ruin that needs to be razed for $1 anywhere

lol the "views" add to the price... sure, they remind me of the "views" from Soviet high rise buildings.

Just replace them by CNC machines already.

@marijaperkovic4384 not if you are forbidden from tearing down the old one... generally, it's easy to get land "for free" if there is rubbish property on it which you have to demolish or restore on your own - because to deal with such buildings costs serious money

@Vandicoup Well, I've watched enough of this type of content to know how it is constructed. It is basically a "reality TV" formula, which seldom reflects any actual reality, but is supposed to satisfy viewers' need for sensation send a certain "message" about everyone's place in the world. As for governments/orgs cracking down on it... was there ever anything good that came from their regulations? Usually the only they can do is to make the jobs disappear altogether and be replaced by some sort of dole and then wonder about criminals taking advantage of it.

Cry me a river, doing sport which nobody really cares about and complaining about lack of sponsors? It's not like they are producing anything worthwhile for anyone but themselves.
