  9. 1. Same as USSR in 1953-1991. It was effectively the first example of such infiltration. Systems built from down up usually don't have means of self-defence to fight off attacks intelligent enough. And even small human groups can engineer such an attack quite effectively. 2. Usually they do stuff like that for profit -- like appeasing one's ego. Initially, before they are aware of the power they get.
