  1. I listened to the entire exchange yesterday (something that I guarantee the makers of this video do not want you to do). The problem was that Rogan decided to dig in on one very focused aspect of what he views as government regulation that he believes as being good and wouldn't let it go. Meanwhile, Rubin on multiple occasions said things like, "Again, I'm not saying I'd necessarily promote deregulation in this case, but I think the issue is an interesting one that should be debated, and the market often self-regulates," but proceeded to allow himself to be drawn back in by Rogan rather than moving on. They're both kind of to blame for talking past each other on this one. Rubin may have stumbled a little, but his point basically reflects what I've always seen his purpose as being, which is to simply bring up the issues for discussion. He has his views and lets them be known – more assertively when he’s the interviewee - but sees the conversation itself as being more valuable than wasting an hour or two trying to change the other person's mind. I view Rogan in a similar fashion in that his curiosity is what makes his podcast stand out – not necessarily any gift for rhetorical or intellectual gymnastics. There’s value in what he does. Not everyone has to be a bomb-thrower, people.
