I've worked under pretty much the gamut of humanity. It was almost exclusively women who either wanted to pretend a conflict didn't exist (it's usually avoiding eye contact and/or a "what do you mean?" as though you're the crazy one for recognizing the issue), or try to spread blame when it was very clear only one party was at fault. This isn't meant to paint all women with the same brush. But there's something to be said for BOTH sexes understanding that they're still very new at the whole "running things" thing, and a LOT of them were rushed up the ladder without paying their dues in the typical way. Why would we expect the overwhelming majority of them to know how to effectively do it? You can't even trust dudes to get it right a lot of the time.

  5. Let's not get too condescending or full of ourselves here. The Head of State - while not irrelevant - is almost entirely ceremonial in this case. The transition would only be extraordinary if there WAS some sort of controversy. Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back for something going as it's almost guaranteed to.

  6. I have yet to see Douglas lose one of these debates. But I've only watched a couple dozen of them. Sideshow Bobbie here was trying to punch above her weight class and failed in predictable fashion.

  7. It allows a person to claim superiority - or at least some degree of being special - by burning only the number of calories required to label themselves. It's why fat, unattractive girls just decide one day to buy a few scarves and candles and call themselves "wiccans."

In what could have been a chance to get some points across, Sideshow Bobbie looked for triggers to ignite her hackneyed sloganism rather than to understand that there is often another side and that there are genuine concerns to consider. That's really all a person needs to know about why there's a communication gap right now. And to pretend it's the result of both sides running from forming an understanding demonstrates a lack of willingness to resolve anything.
