  2. +Drinko76 Of course, Lundgren is European and they almost all know multiple languages. His academic credentials stand out, though. Early in the list, the first celebs they mentioned didn't really have superior resumes other than the schools they were attending. I also noticed they tended to get liberal arts degrees. Not that David Duchovny's English lit degrees from Princeton and Yale are hard science, but they should at least earn him honorable mention if Cindy Crawford being a valedictorian and dropping out of Northwestern after one quarter do.

  3. +carmaj156 Of course, in Da Vinci's time, there wasn't really specialization. Science was sort of all-encompassing. Of course, people shrug off his ideas that weren't correct, plus all the other things he's credited with that were actually common knowledge at the time, but he was nonetheless a curious person.

  4. +Folarin You might want to re-read it. It certainly shows high interest and drive in what is a fairly limited scope of things, but he's not as draped in degrees as you seem to believe. "He studied" doesn't mean "he earned a degree in."

  5. +Raymond Helyar Not sure double majoring in film and psychology at UCLA makes the list. Hell, Duchovny has a bachelors from Princeton and a masters from Yale and apparently isn't as smart as Cindy Crawford, who dropped out of Northwestern after one quarter.

I'm not passing judgement on whether some of these celebrities are actually incredibly smart - especially Conan - but there was nothing particularly impressive about their resumes until they got to Rowan Atkinson other than the Ivy League/Sister colleges that some of the first celebs on the list attended. They seemed to get marginally useful liberal arts degrees. It's nice that they are "fluent" in multiple languages, but that just makes you European - not necessarily intelligent.Similarly, they completely backslid when it came to most of the honorable mentions. Wonderful that Crawford was the smartest kid at DeKalb High school, which would have had a graduating class of around 300 or so back then, but she only "studied chemical engineering" for one quarter before dropping out of college. Stewart "studied" chemistry and psychology, but graduated with the liberal arts degree - not the hard science degree. And Geena Davis? It's great that she's in Mensa. I'm in Mensa. But posting the 140 IQ - which is only a few points above what is generally the bare minimum for membership - doesn't really do her any favors when trying to impress. And how, exactly, does her work in gender studies translate into being smart? As for being fluent in Swedish, it likely had something to do with the fact that she was an exchange student in Sweden. They left out the fact that she does have a degree from Boston U. Likely because it was in drama.Again, this is only partly meant to assail some of what is being considered evidence of intelligence here. And there are many other indicators of intelligence among some of the names I brought up. Obviously, given the fact that many of them achieved great success in the road they chose to pursue, they were at least smart enough to see that path and take it. Just don't tell me Cindy Crawford is qualified to almost be on the same list as Mayim Bialik, or that Jon Stewart's four-year psych degree from William & Mary bests David Duchovny's bachelors in English lit from Princeton and masters from Yale.

  10. +Giorgi Gudiashvili Not to mention that with at least half of them (mostly bottom half and honorable mention) the academic degrees weren't impressive either. Neither is fluency in languages when you consider their backgrounds. Some just happened to get their four-year liberal arts degrees from prestigious schools.

  13. Nikster Hernandez That depends on what you mean when you talk about  "high degrees of education." Most fields of study allow for dim bulbs to get at least a bachelor's. Basically, the types of degrees the bottom half - and some of the honorable mentions - of this list earned or "studied for."
