  1. kuroniro1 Dalton should have been a great Bond, but he came along at a bad time, plus he managed to go an entire film without getting laid. You can't be a good Bond and not get laid.

  2. Rachie doodle Not true! Unlike Timothy Dalton, I believe Daniel Craig has managed to get laid in every Bond film.

  3. Oliver H To me, "Skyfall" sucked for one very simple reason: James Bond does NOT hunker down and wait for the enemy to besiege him with everything it's got. Bond is a shark, always swimming or he'll die. He doesn't sit pat and fortify a house like a group of homesteaders waiting to be attacked by Apaches.

  4. kuroniro1 I likely wouldn't have noticed either except that there was a bit of a to-do about it at the time. I'm thinking it might have coincided with the AIDS scare. That whole late-70s/early-80s period was sort of a bad time all around for a lot of pop-culture/entertainment things.

  5. I think once in awhile things just need a reset, so you have a few years of funkiness until some solid footing is found. This would explain disco and techno, and how we had a handful of big movies in there surrounded by a LOT of crapola.

  6. JK Wiseman It had been 30+ years that we'd known about the dangers of smoking at that point. The worm may have turned, but there was no "scare."

  7. KolozII Of course, the classic response is, "Well, people don't actually SMOKE cigars like they do cigarettes." Of course, I did when in the Army. :)
