  1. The problem is more subtle than that. During that time, AMD wasn't doing great drivers though. Worse than that is the fact many integrated GPU in the embedded market have to rely on proprietary blobs made for obsolete kernels (at least Nvidia keep updating its own). The reason is more about Nvidia not wanting to provide documentation to the nouveau devteam (they only did it for Tegra SoCs) and not wanting to support DRI unlike everyone.
