well, Western management is the culprit. In some industries, owners treated workers so poorly for several generations that unions massively grew in power.

@ThePhiphler well, socialism and unions started in Europe cities during the industrial revolution (the novel Germinal occurred in France). American management (which btw is more and more prevalent across Europe) aggravated the tensions, industry unions and union shop are more common in NA as well. But the issue is just the result of liberal capitalism where workers are considered as a disposable resource to exploit, not far from slavery. Many legislation across EU changed in consequence, forcing companies to get back to caring about employees, whereas NA stayed more liberal therefore more conflictual between holders and the workforce.

True. Not having any union in a company is quite concerning though (except when it's a cooperative where every workers is a patron). Sounds like union busting is in progress.

sounds like an angry boy reaction. Kind of suits the character.

@asclepius.dionysus economic liberalism if you prefer. It's just a matter of choosing one of those synonyms. I was emphasizing the correlation to the 18th and 19th Century ideological changes in Western countries, the rise of social movements caused by this new and wilder form of capitalism, replacing mercantilism, authoritarian capitalism or even good old corporatism. You should also check the definition of corporatism because what you're talking about seems to be corporate capitalism instead. Two totally distinct concepts, strongly opposite in many ways. And yes they definitively are sub-ideologies within capitalism, even sub-sub-ideologies, with a lot of different schools of thoughts, just like what occurred within socialism. Looks like you got an exciting amount of topics to dig into :)

well, depends on what unions we're talking about. NA kinda broke the purpose of unionizing by allowing things like union shops or industrial unions to take control over an entire workforce.

@davef.2329 probably by inefficient and polluting trucks. They even made an electric semi truck specifically to do that, instead of using good ol' railroads without favored price. …or he secretly built some hyperloop network… or by launching SpaceX rockets… the meme machine never stops with that bozo.

@bobroberts2371 Sure but this is the result of inhuman management for over a century that leads to the union screwing automobile factories. Without greedy holders and executives, there would be no such things as union shops or industrial unions. You reap what you sow.
