I disagree. I do believe that affordable development platforms like Arduino, ESP32 or Raspberry Pi and the OpenHardware environment are much more helpful to create interest in electronics than some Right to Repair on all of those complex and ultra-miniaturized electronic devices manufactured nowadays.

@Asianometry That means the management and whole companies culture must drastically change to the opposite : Less working hours and less pressure on those jobs will make them more attractive and heavily reduce costly mistakes, turnovers and medical leaves. It becomes urgent that US and Asia culture have to understand that the better a workforce feels, the better their involvement and productivity are. Money is not enough incentive since at least the generation Y get to work.

@mechamicro Well, there are still datasheets in many hardware parts, just not for the big chips and for some avoidable brands. And this is really not needed to bring initial interest in electronics, as OP said. Although it's naive to thing it will bring incentives from manufacturers when even Apple found its way to be compatible with Right to Repair.

@Gabriel-pd8sv Right to Repair in its actual form doesn't makes consumers able to discover basics electronics at all. And by focusing on consumer grade embedded systems that aren't designed for maintenance practicality it doesn't really make any incentive to pursue technician careers.
