Music and images softwares are now on par with Windows or Mac, even on the open-source software side. For the music you have Jack, Ardour, Audacity and many other things very powerful that don't have to shy in front of Protools. For the image you have Krita, The Gimp (now even allowing things Photoshop didn't implemented at all), MyPaint, Darktable, Rawtherapy, Inkscape (or even Scribus, in a certain extend).
I agree that in the video editing part, it's a bit sparse for professionals (there are still KDenlive and other simple editors) but Blender has a very good video editing tool and in closed-source there is Lightwork and Da Vinci Resolve which are lightweight comparing to Premiere+AE.
So I don't know what you find less efficient to be forced to use Windows, maybe it's because the ergonomic and the toolchain is too different than what you learned on ?
