sure but the analog ones are rare nowadays since it costs almost nothing to get a complete control loop automation taking into account data from some probes and sensors.

@solangecossette1374 I have a cheap wallplug wattmeter which uses a pair of alkaline cells to prevent losing diverse consumption data during power loss. This kind of feature should be implemented for most digital timers too.

With good power saving programming tricks and a modern MCU, the power consumption of a digital one is so low that it depends heavily on the efficiency of the AC/DC circuitry. I'm even sure that a way more featureful device controlled by a small SBC running a full OS (like a Raspberry Pi) can drain less than 3W.

@jonasstahl9826 a latching relay doesn't need power to keep any state ;) Although a well built digital one do not reach 1W idle (this is for a mediocre one, designed to barely pass certifications) whereas the analog one is much around 10€ per year. Multiply that by the number of timers used and it adds up quite significantly. Finally, the main purpose of a digital one is to get more fine tuned programmed periods. That allows to spend less time powered on for nothing. Some systems allows to be externally driven or use diverse sensors for even more control as well as safety features. That also can be as unexpensive as a mechanical one (especially if homemade) and for such simple electronic devices the longevity is still decades-long.

yup wrapping was a huge trend decades ago. With squared pins and the appropriate tool it makes very reliable contacts. Now it's mostly used when solder melting is a concern.
