@Appletank8 There is worse than that: carbon or ceramic brakes are way more effective than standard iron or steel disk brakes. Meaning that following a sports car within safety distances can result in an unavoidable accident during a usual non-emergency brake. This is well known in races like 24hs of Le Mans where there is several classes of vehicles on the circuit. Pilots of the lightweight prototype classes cars using carbon brakes have to be careful not crashing at 400 km/h into the rear of the "GT" modified road cars that are breaking way earlier before engaging slow turns (and the circuit is iconic with its kilometers-long straight lines and chicanes).

It's really not hard to implement at all, even with some additional logic to keep the brake light on when the pedal is still applied at a stop. It's even more frustrating when we consider the amount of electronics in cars since the 70's.

@steveknight878 I agree. And it's certainly easily feasible on recent cars without full mechanical handbrake anymore. All in all, pretty sure that whole brake feature could have been implemented half a century ago with some simple analog circuit.
