The war began after the Donbass regions refused to accept the results of the coup and demanded the status of an autonomous area within Ukraine. By the way, just as it exists in the US, Canada, Germany, Italy, Denmark, France, Great Britain. But instead of negotiating, Kiev sent an army against them. I don't know who exactly came up with this genius plan, but it's not the Ukrainians, it's probably the British or the Americans. Because the whole plan was based on feelings and emotions. It was supposed to offend the Russians so much that they would be forced to immediately withdraw the entire army from Donbass to Kursk. Just for the sake of feelings and emotions. And Ukrainians, as well as Russians, are not too emotional to come up with such a thing.

After 15 years, when Germany approached Poland, Russia said that part was still part of Russia, even though it was temporarily occupied by Poland, and it was ready to fight for it. Germany didn't want to fight Russia at that point and gave that land back to Russia. Russian land to Russia.
