  1. Who won the 1st round? - certainly not the British people! As usual, ministers are focussed on throwing rhetoric and sound bites at the symptoms not the problems they have created. Sanctions are known to have had no effect on Russia, who predicts a budget SURPLUS this year of $0.5trillion! The windfall revenue from energy of $158 billion,($80+bn from the EU) largely caused by the sanction price increases, more than covers the estimated £100bn cost of the special operation, which continues despite 6 months of sanctions. The sanctions however, continue to decimate the economies who imposed them! Cancel the sanctions, buy cheaper energy from Russia (we still buy Russian diesel, but we get it from Belgium, at an inflated price!), and watch the prices start to fall. The more we trade with Russia the lower the prices. If the EU countries did the same the problems would start to evaporate and the prices could begin their descent.
