  1. Good luck with trying to get your cash out of a Nat West account! Even by pre-arranging to withdraw cash (a requirement for amounts over£2,000), they will still refuse if you don't give a good enough reason. They want receipts or quotes for anything you are buying or having work done. They want to know why it can't be paid by electronic means. They even called the police, who interviewed me in the branch 'to check I wasn't being defrauded by someone'. I am now on PNC for taking money from a bank without good reason! On the last occasion, the manager refused to allow the withdrawal. After a 40 minute 'discussion', and after I suggested the account would have to be closed if it no longer served the purpose for which it was opened (so the bank would lose custody of the rest of the money in the account as well), she eventually agreed that I could take possession of some of my own money!
