Comments by "Graeme Peters" (@graemepeters5717) on "Why Ukraine's Invasion Strategy Poses a Difficult Political Problem for Moscow" video.
From what I've read, it appears that these UA troops were nationalist (neo-Nazi) units, who may have got bored with guarding the border with Belarus. The incursion does not appear to have the blessing of Kiev. Most of the half-witted comments below fail to recognise the importance of this "escalation". This is an invasion of Russia not defending Ukrainian territory. Thus it authorises Russia's allies, e.g. Belarus and N.Korea to 'lend military assistance'. They used Western vehicles and equipment - contrary to the terms set by many of Kiev's allies. These troops attacked civilian targets e.g. housing, schools and an ambulance - making this a war-crime. Many of Kiev's allies will distance themselves from supporting it. An invasion of Russian territory has crossed the threshold of Russia's Nuclear Doctrine. Nuclear weapon use is now on the table. Whether with Kiev's authorisation or not, this is just about the worst way of poking the bear you could think of! So far, the UA incursion into Kursk has cost them 945 troops and 102 armoured vehicles, bringing their total troop losses for the last 7 days to 13,925. This desperate offensive may be because they know the Ukrainian Army can't survive until the end of the year!
