  1. The system of every energy company I have been with over the last 20+ years has over estimated my 'predicted use'. This can not be accidental. I'm now with British Gas, who took over the customers when Bristol Energy went bust. I set up my Direct Debit to be 1/12th of my annual usage. This means there is a shortfall in payments during the winter, but a surplus during the summer. Despite the credit on my account increasing from £50 to £150 over the summer, B/Gas tried to increase my DD from £75/month to £120/month! The aim of energy companies is that customers pay for their energy IN ADVANCE, unlike the system years ago, when customers paid for what they'd used when the bill arrived i.e. IN ARREARS! They want YOUR money sitting in THEIR bank account BEFORE they get a bill from their supplier!
