  1. From the reports I've seen, by experts in the field, Electric Vehicles are nothing but trouble! From the mining of 250 tons of rare earth minerals to produce one EV battery, using an excavator and truck that use 1,000 litres of diesel in a 12 hour shift! From the reports from the fire services that an EV car which experiences a battery fire needs to be immersed in water for hours to stop it re-igniting. To the need to double the size of the electrical infrastructure to accommodate even a relatively small increase to the number of EVs in use. Charging one EV is equivalent to 25-50 fridges running in your house! Even if the number of EVs increased from the current 18m to 100m, it would only reduce the World's oil consumption by 10%. I'm hoping to squeeze another 10 years out of my '96 diesel 4x4. How many EVs or other vehicles, petrol or diesel, have come and gone during the last 27 years?
