@Mububban23 The lack of range, range further reduced in cold weather, depreciation, the lack of garages able to repair them, their vulnerability to flood damage, their record of spontaneous ignition, the lack of charging networks, the cost of using public chargers, everything monitored during use, use can be controlled/restricted by the Government, lack of capability. None of these affect my diesel 4x4!

My '96 Toyota Surf 3l turbo-diesel spent its first 8 years in Japan. I've owned it for 20 years since. It is reliable, rarely needs parts, which are easily available and cheap. It has 170k+ miles and doesn't use a drop of oil between annual services. No particulate filters, no Lambda sensors, no gadgets - it just starts and runs when you turn the key! The road tax on a new large 4x4 is £735. For mine it is £345 - less than half! I shall run it until the wheels drop off, then either buy another one or buy something older - a classic car or van.
