The "violent, vicious thug" was the police officer!
Having seen the videos, yes, there was a violent confrontation with the police officers. It began when the face-kicking, head-stamping officer grabs the man, who was complying with his arrest, by the neck and slams his head against the vending machine. In response, the second man, possibly the brother of the first, attacks the offending officer.
However, that man was lying prone on the floor. He had been immobilised by a Tazer. The offending officer was NOT being threatened, nor in any danger at all. There can be NO justification for a police officer to kick anyone in the face and stamp on his head - EVER!
So many of the commenters below see the racial origins of the men as a justification for what happened. Some believe the events beforehand make it ok.
Is that REALLY what we want from our police? If a member of the public had kicked and stamped on someone laying on the floor, he would have been immediately arrested and charged with assault. Why should the standards be lowered because he is wearing police uniform?
Would they welcome the same behaviour by police officers against their own family or friends?
