  1. The flood plain is mainly on the east bank side, so would affect Russian troops not Ukrainian. The N Crimean Canal would cease to function. Russia has struggled to get enough water to Crimea for 8 years since Kiev dammed the canal. Kiev claims Russia has placed landmines on the dam. You would need a LOT of landmines to destroy an earth dam 9 stories high! Mines might however, make the road on top unusable by the UA. The oil and gas buyers in the EU and US know that they will be black-listed by Russia if they apply a price cap!
