After watching Maveick .It seemed like a pitch for a recall of the upgraded version of a F14 .The F18 was really embaressed.Russia and china have similar long range higher performance fighters close the the F14.but the US has a downgraded low cost based on BVR and jamming pods as fighting capabilities only.just the lod of BVR missiles s a cost of a plane similar to F16.weopons are more lucrative than survivability it seems
