  2. The generally accepted ratio for attacking a defended position is 3/1. The Soviet losses were only 2/1 so in that respect it was successful and well within expected losses.

  14. Versailles wouldn’t have happened if the defeated Germans in WW1 hadn’t decided to destroy everything as they retreated. They had a clear policy of if we lose we’ll take everyone down with us.
