British Army Field Service Regulations 1918….”only combined-arms operations could create enough fire power to enable mobility on a battlefield.” So “Blitzkreig” was simply copying what was known in 1918. The German army simply utilised the tactics developed by Basil Liddell-Hart twenty years earlier. Unfortunately the French were twenty years behind military thinking but fortunately the Russians weren’t….which is why it failed.

  7.  @ssgus3682  Germany was outfought, outthought, and outclassed in every single aspect of warfare - leadership, troops and equipment. If they had oil coming out of their arseholes they’d have still lost.

  8.  @ssgus3682  Blitzkreig was a novelty in 1940 - and worked because the French didn’t know how to counter it and swiftly capitulated rather than fight in depth. It failed in 1941 because the Soviets did. It has never been used again because it is a simple way to ensure you lose.

  10. Because the notion (claimed here) that the invasion was “for oil” is the worst type of revisionism. Germany invaded the USSR because it was always Hitler’s intention on ideological grounds. Plus the German war economy was ALL about obtaining cheap resources and manpower for the German industrialists who backed Hitler. This is what “lebensraum” is actually about.
