So, the dream is a nice homogenised Europe with just the one "way of life." Good luck with it - from your oddball neighbours in Britain.
2
Unfortunately the EU's threat to take the matter to the ECJ has no teeth as the IMB quite specifically returns sovereignty to the UK courts. It'll make a nice headline for them - but that's it.
2
First the Ukraine - coming next intervention in Belarus, Azerbaijan, Russia, Libya, Turkey. The EU is determined to give the rest of the world a good laugh.
2
That chamber looks very white. Is the EU racist?
2
Did he get that mask out of a jamboree bag?
2
Seán O'Nilbud ? I'm not even Scottish.
2
Why would the world listen to a failed German politician kicked sideways into the EU?
2
A Frenchman talking about a now feeble empire trying to recreate it's past. Pass the irony bag.
2
B. Ciernioch Was that an attempt at English?
2
Eu really never learnt from the war they provoked in the Ukraine. They're amateurs.
2
Pointless drivel
2
So far all the eu has done is empower Erdogan. He's turned into a bit of a thorn in their side and has them totally under his spell. Time for some SERIOUS talking about it.

Will take the necessary action if appropriate. Now that's an answer worth waiting for.
1
This tosser looks like he's been dragged out of the Med - and should have been thrown back in.
1
Mohandro Xz I vote for that. Russia is welcome.
1
Three weeks deciding whether to send a letter. How long will it take to decide what to write?
1
This is more like a fashion show than a parliament. I doubt any of these are struggling to put bread on the table.
1
I'm becoming increasingly aware the EU never actually does anything of any value. They claim the single market as "their" great success but in fact this is made to work by business around Europe whilst the EU simply sit back and take the credit.
1
conor1077 Far from being a "Brexiteer" I actually live in France and like many people here see the repeated failings of this organisation which seems to have morphed into a home for failed politicians. Time it was put out to pasture and a simple streamlined association of European countries was put in place that will help cross border trade without the protectionism, without the cartels and without the endless self-congratulatory waffle.
1
Karsten Schuhmann The EUnsay it's impossible to enforce a universal minimum wage whilst saying they wish to increase convergence. They're just meaningless words.
1
Karsten Schuhmann Ok
1
conor1077 Ok
1
Don't worry Greece, France has got your back. What can possibly go wrong?
1
I want to hear from curly, on the right.
1
As long as he does what twenty seven different countries with differing demands and requirements want him to do. Forget it.
1
Kunzum La Not really.
1
Pathetic.
1
Looking increasingly like Barnier is on the way out.
1
Karsten Schuhmann Time will tell....
1
So as the Irishman said, agree our terms or we'll start blowing ourselves up again.
1
The EU are really flexing their muscles now. Nothing will be done obviously but it keeps the euraboos happy.
1
There's an a endless supply of bland looking EU spokesmen lining up to say Nothing.
1
Isac ADC What has the UK got to do with EU failings?
1
Isac ADC So why when someone criticises the EU do you compare with the U.K.? Why not Japan or Taiwan?
1
Isac ADC Switzerland is nearer. The Ukraine is nearer. Turkey is nearer.
1
Isac ADC Switzerland is poorer? You're obviously trying to deflect the failings of the EU by somehow criticising the UK. As a resident of France I'm not interested in the UK - but I am interested in how useless the EU have been in handling covid here.
1
Isac ADC In that case maybe you should go and whine on a video about how the UK is handling the problem. This one certainly isn't - is it?
1
Fair enough. Bye.
1
Everybody should pay their fair share of taxes in the EU. Glances at Ireland...
1
Merkel kicked this woman out of German politics because she was both useless and corrupt. I find her untrustworthy.
1
Carolimagnus Roman I was puzzled how you think that comment was even remotely ironic. Then I saw that you apparently believe Carolimagnus is one word, which explained a lot. Thank you for your effort anyway - it was very brave.
1
Von der Leyen had to make sure she and her friends got their cut before they were sent.
1
It’s the ridiculous situation of a member of a country as insignificant as Belgium (and a country that benefits massively from the EU) trying to be a player on the international stage that makes the European Parliament laughable.
1
They're united in avoiding the blame.
1
Karsten Schuhmann Frost is not a body.
1
Karsten Schuhmann And if you can't see Barnier was given a role impossible to fulfill I can't help you I'm afraid.
1
The EU seem to be waffling about absolutely everything at their latest summit. And doing nothing.
1
A) start fostering discontent B) support tame opposition politicians C) instigate civil war D) wring hands helplessly E) repeat

Jim Knight We don't "need" to apply tariffs at all unless we choose, however in the absence of a trade agreement endorsed by the WTO we have to impose any tariffs equally to all nations. This means that whereas at the moment we are obliged (under EU rules) to impose an average of 30% on beef imports from outside the EU from next year should we choose to have tariffs on imports we will have to impose the same rates on EU production as we do the rest of the world. This effectively means Irish, and other EU, producers will take a 30% hit on their prices.
