  2. I disagree with this but only tangentially. The important distinction is ownership, in my view. When you pay for a Goyflix account, nothing is yours. When you pay for a solar panel, not only is the panel yours, but so is the electricity, now. If it breaks, chances are you can just buy another from whatever company, since you still have the converter, batteries and everything. Sure, you might not be able to make a solar panel from scratch, but you don't need to - if there's a zombie apocalypse and your panel breaks, just get used to cold showers or something.
