  1. I say it's a feedback loop, people get ad revenue on YouTube and lots of clicks. If you post on Vimeo, you might have to pay THEM if your video gets too popular (this happened, I'm not joking).

  2. This is actually common. I've seen it happen personally, songs ContentID by "remixers" who basically added a beat loop to an indie song (that otherwise wouldn't have been claimed).
