  1. hardest? nah. Chinese uses more characters and they're the same ones too. Japanese is like Chinese but simpler. Also, since there's virtually no culture being exported out of China (and I don't think you can produce any there anyway), Japanese has the benefit of being more popular, so easier to find material for learning it. plus, WAY easier to pronounce than Chinese (or English, or even Italian and Spanish). Also the hiragana serve as particles and the sentence structure is easy to mentally parse. Hiragana is not hard at all, come on.
