@Andy_Sidaris make patents exclusive to the individual then. If the individual leaves or passes, no patent anymore. Or give them a time limit of say 5 years. Not perpetual license for a corpo to own a concept.

@DoctorPecker Minecraft was a blatant ripoff of infiniminer. Who cares? Even if it's just "Pokemon with guns", there's people who want to play that. Why should one corporation own the idea of throwing a ball or collecting monsters? It clearly offers something Pokemon doesn't, otherwise it wouldn't be popular.

@andrewyp6724 I get that, but this does not help "the little guy", which is what offends me on these discussions. It's great value for a company, yes. But they can fire you next month and rake in decades of earnings off your work. It is not designed to help the little guy.

@Bam_Bam_Bam_Bam patents help corporations screw the little guy, by patenting all the other things the little guy needs to compete, basic concepts that shouldn't even be patentable, and hold those patents forever.

@Pihsrosnec no corporation can claim your work "on your spare time" (time outside of work hours) but I get what you mean. I think it's fair a corporation benefits from work they paid employees to produce, I just think laws should be fair, and designed to benefit society, not cement the lazy and greedy vampires.
