  1. 4:16:25 another point: carriers cannot steam into the wind sideways, so an aircraft will not have benefit of a ~30kt headwind. Also, considering the carrier will likely be steaming into the wind to launch aircraft via the standard method, an aircraft launched from a cross deck catapult will be launching with / into a significant crosswind.
