1:34:50 for reference Only the three seated officers have both sleeves visible. I do not think it is that any officer has “different insignia on one sleeve than the other.” Rather, the combo of ) how each one holds their arms relative to the lighting, which seems to be very bright from photo-right and almost perpendicular to the camera line of sight; and ) the quality of photo equipment and development method at the time makes the insignia on each officer’s left sleeve (nearer the light source) appear almost “photo-negatives” of the corresponding sleeve (further from the light source). On a big screen, zoom in on the admiral and the officer to his left, and you will see that the pattern of light-dark-light stripes on one sleeve becomes dark-light-dark on the other. For the officer seated to the admiral’s right, the insignia of his left sleeve (nearer the light source) is almost completely washed out by the lightning, making it appear to be a single, solid bright band.

@Dave_Sisson He became King in 1910. I am quite certain this photo does not date from before then, let-alone well before then.
