The gas fuel (either propane or CNG) burns and evaporates the refrigerant (mix of ammonia and water), which condenses and absorbs heat energy from the body of the refrigerator, and then is evaporated again by the burning gas. The rest of the appliance is the same as an electrically-powered version.
