@mn8aol THose democrats were conservative not liberal. The civil war was between the North and the South Not Demcorat vs Republican. The north being majority liberal and the South being Majority conservative. Fact most of the Union sates usually go blue during presidential elections. Fact most of the conservatve states go red. Byrd joined the KKK for poltical advancement. Not because he was racist. The white supremacist movement that is in the north (NEWP) hang around with libertarians.

@mn8aol WRONG!!!! The KKK are conservative not liberal. David Duke, Haley Barbour, Trent Lott, and Stropm Thurmond (Dont try saying that he was a democrat. He switched parties and the senate voting records prove it.
