@A17-r5w4k French is their lingua franca not native language dont be dumb , they have their own tribal languages.. No matter how much influence coptic has on that dialect, arabic is still arabic!! An absolute majority of it atleast.The parent of Egyptian arabic is quranic arabic not egyptian language pls remember that cause thats a fact which wont change Morever the official language of Egypt is modern standard arabic not even Egyptian arabic!!

I am a big admirer of ancient egypt but its about accepting the truth keeping your blood and gentics aside nothing much survives of your ancestors.. And u would be classified in any ethno linguistic survey in this world as arab more accurately" assimilated arab" just like Lebanon or libya

@A17-r5w4k frnch is their lingua frnca , arabic is your native tongue understand the difference even in north africa especially in morocco more and more people r becoming native speakers of berber so that would make them berber now!! They r no more arab.. They now speak arabic as their lingua franca nothimg erong in that they would be still called berber But unfortunately unlike them coptic went extinct and untill u dont revive it ur an egyptian arab

@A17-r5w4k That dialect excuse is quite useless i must because its just a dialect the casual way , the formal dialect would always remain" modern standard arabic" even egypt's official language is not egyptian arabic but modern standard arabic man i am not imposing anything on you I am just telling you the truth as per technical definations " ur an arab as long as ur native language is arabic"thats a fact u like it or not ... if u wanna be called egyptian then speak coptic as your native tongue . for now you r just an a citizen of the " ARAB" republic of egypt" , an egptian by nationality and an egyptian arab by ethncity.

Zack Erskine ya ue right but i think its going a revival morocco has berber as a co fficial language now and berber identity is also rising up in the rest of north africa.. Now egyptian arabs too are slowly distancing themselves from there arab identity and going back their real egyptian identity..
