Don’t forget what happened at Chosin. Americans have short memories.

Friendly reminder that the US has been doing this to Cuba for the last ~60 years.

@chaosXP3RT That’s one way of saying “humiliating retreat” I guess

@Matthew_Loutner No, just a total naval blockade and sanctions so brutal the people there are without adequate food and medicine.

@Matthew_Loutner “Since 1992, the UN General Assembly has passed a nonbinding resolution every year, except for 2020, condemning the ongoing impact of the embargo and declaring it in violation of the Charter of the United Nations and of international law. There was no voting on this issue in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

@Matthew_Loutner “Human rights groups, such as Oxfam, have called for the sanctions to be lifted, saying they “hamper access to inputs, medical technologies, medical equipment, and other essential basic items” for everyday Cubans.” Btw how do you think the embargo is enforced?
1
@Matthew_Loutner I asked how the law is enforced.

@Matthew_Loutner I’ve been to North Korea. So no need to lecture me on their very real, and very tragic plight. (US sanctions play a huge part here too, typically and wilfully brushed over by exceptionalists like you). These sanctions punish the ordinary citizen, I’ve seen it first hand. Not only there, but Iran too. Ordinary people cut off from life necessities because the US deems it so under their so called “rules based order” aka, rules for thee, not for me. I do find it funny how Americans use car ownership as a poverty metric though. As if they can’t get around using their superior public transport systems? When compared to the US anyway. Ever been to China? Their high speed train network should embarrass the US. The fact that you can’t tell me how the embargo is enforced says it all. Considering Cuba is an island, I’d have thought the answer was obvious.

@claudjohnson3540 They also pushed you right back to the 38th with your tails between your legs. Don’t forget it. China is massive. They can afford losses. You can’t. Nothing has changed.

@TheRiiiight Yeah look up the battle of Chosin and reassess your comment

@didierduplantier8359 "The Chinese had no air power and were armed only with rifles, machineguns, hand grenades, and mortars. Against the much more heavily armed Americans, they adapted a technique they had used against the Nationalists in the Chinese civil war of 1946–49. The Chinese generally attacked at night and tried to close in on a small troop position—generally a platoon—and then attacked it with local superiority in numbers. The usual method was to infiltrate small units, from a platoon of fifty men to a company of 200, split into separate detachments. While one team cut off the escape route of the Americans, the others struck both the front and the flanks in concerted assaults. The attacks continued on all sides until the defenders were destroyed or forced to withdraw. The Chinese then crept forward to the open flank of the next platoon position, and repeated the tactics."

@didierduplantier8359 "The US military is a battle hardened organization from constant warfare in the last 30 years." - They've lost every war they've fought for 30 years. Vietnam, Afghanistan etc. They have shown they are unable to competently fight a guerrilla war.

@kingmusa8618 Casualties don’t mean jack if you lose the war.
1
@kingmusa8618 The Germans inflicted more casualties on the Soviets than were inflicted on them. Did they win WWII?
1
@krystofk.2279 the mental gymnastics are strong. I hear this same dumb argument all the time. Apparently you “won” the Vietnam war too. I mean, you killed way more Vietnamese people than they killed Americans. But so what? You still lost. How’s “south Vietnam” at this time of year? Give me a break
1
@didierduplantier8359 Sooooo you’re saying the US troops in Korea weren’t battle hardened from the Second World War?
1
@didierduplantier8359 I know China has the industrial power to match or exceed the US, the ability to mobilise and militarise that industry in a total war situation, and the manpower and shear population to maintain a long term conflict. The US has the technological edge, but did that help them in Afghanistan? Vietnam?

@ScotlandTheBrave_1 Your country doesn’t even acknowledge Taiwan as a sovereign state. Hypocrites
