How low is he on a growth chart for his weight? My daughter took a long time to get to 100 lb but she's about 5 ft 1 or 2. Doctors do like a chronic case. The same daughter I mentioned was declared failure to thrive at age 4. She was healthy and developing in every way but was at the 15th percentile. My babies have all been small. My husband was 5 ft 8 135 lb when I met him. He and his brother were scrawny little boys. The doctor wanted us to try to fatten her up on full fat dairy and bring her in ever week or two to weigh. That's cash flow for him. We declined. That said, 85 lb is really low for 5 ft 6. I can see why they might be worried. I'd just balance it against general health, energy level, caloric consumption, depression, stress, heredity etc.

@harveybrown2382 That's wild. I didn't know you can be that tall and thin. But he's high on the charts because he's 11?

1:08:00 childhood obesity When I was a child in the 70s, there was 2 or 3 obese children in the entire elementary school. In 2001 at my son's 5th grade graduation, it was about every third child coming down the aisle to graduate. About 1/3 of the 10 year olds. Now you are saying 50%. Parents, stop feeding your children juice, soda, any cheese pizza while they sit and play indoors with an ipad!!!

Kick*b@cks and pharma GSK was sued for $12b in 2012 for kick*b@cks among other things

My main issue is the lack of laws against kickbacks from pharma for prescribing meds. GSK was sued for K*CK BaCKS in 2012 for @dv@ir and other scripts. One of the convictions was for k*ck b@cks to Drs.

@donmichaelbockhoff1634 In every state? For starters, they get wined and dined by Pharma reps. I know. My husband is an RN who gets wined and dined at times. Also, in about 2012, my daughter was put on advair and flovent. When I asked about the severity of her asthma and if she needed these scrips for life, I got some odd answers. For one, he wouldn't give me multiple refills. The "chronic condition" kept us having to come to his office on a regular basis to get the scrip refilled. I ended up taking her off of them. Just this year I remembered the situation. I found that the pharmacy company had been sued for KICKBACKS. GlaxoSmithKline paid our $3 billion in 2012 for multiple abuses in prescribing Advair: "...also includes allegations that GSK paid * kickbacks*** to health care professionals to induce them to promote and prescribe these drugs as well as the drugs Imitrex, Lotronex, Flovent and Valtrex. The United States alleges that this conduct caused false claims to be submitted to federal health care programs."
