  1. 11:42 interesting but not sure a metal enclose crumble when dropped . “Steel” can be many things I suppose PC is “stronger” in the use case of a safe if we’re talking about specifically smashing against the ground if you mean overall construction and welding. Which can significantly impact structural integrity. But a steel box will not break apart if you throw it. Not AISI 304 steel welded properly. Elongation at break % for PC is FANTASTIC. That alone makes it great for weapon storage. Maybe that’s what you’re referring to but the forces needed to reach this for steel you’re not achieving to make this relevant. Meanwhile the construction of the PC enclosure can be significantly more unstabilized by brute force vs steel. Like for like, if a VERY well done steel enclosure is produced vs an equally well done PC enclosure, and I mean overall production/ welding/corners, etc I would be happy with an enclosure. Steel’s tensile strength as measured by MPa is diabolically higher than PC - up to 10x higher (source: makeitfrom). Steel is also laughably more dense. A simple drop Shouldn’t jeopardize an enclosure. My only issue with this is while it’s not based on electronics, the mechanical operation makes me nervous bc of its sturdiness while operating but it resolved I’d go for it. Even over a quality steel box I would purchase. But PC is very light for reasons mentioned above re: density. You’re likely going to need to hold this over or near an edge and the surface be very flat opening at the correct angle. It also doesn’t appear to have a spring. And given how light it is, especially if empty, seeing the actual weight this is going to move when operating it. That’s one of the benefits of using would imagine if a proper steel case. It’s rigid. So you’re not smashing on the ground anyway but also fumbling with it in the dark or in an emergency, the box itself won’t move making your finger placement mission critical to finger operation. I’ve not owned this though to be perfectly clear it’s just an objection to the material design I’m going to soon test as I like the concept as it looks like this can be wall mounted. For a vehicle this could be a tough sell I’d wager. Also a tad hesitant if you had observant people around as it’s more a mechanical finger placement combo lock. Replication is possible. Which is true for many things of course but in good faith fingerprint and mechanical/digital number combination is less susceptible to replication specifically. One could also get lucky - much more so than more complicated combination of course. But if speed is all you care about this is Ideal .
