Throw in specialty dogs for the full episode. I’ve spent a lifetime around real working GSD and I genuinely mean it when I say they’d be the most misunderstood animals if ppl knew what they were. Like an actual working Pyrenees. I’ve never been around an animal that I genuinely looked at for permission while in their domain. It’s so incredible watching these animals do their job. And such a weird situation, they look like big domesticated dogs. But never touch or approach one unless directed and told to. They aren’t your pals. They don’t listen to you . They are the experts on the farm around the hens and cows. Their love lies with their charges. By extension that can be the farm and they respect me but it takes careful work. They never come inside and rule the barns. They see and hear the threat a lifetime before you. And they take ride or die to the next level for the charges with sophisticate defense tactics to de-escalate or engage threats. Happily prepared to end a pack of coyotes with ease or if need be leave it all out there for an encroaching bear up here in Montana. But on the rare moment they want to play just for a moment or if we go to the vet as we try to do that instead of being the doc in every time, they are so compassionate and chill af . It’s so bizarre. You literally catch yourself talking to them like another human and they seemingly understand the gist of what you are trying to convey for the most part . Great video on facts!   2. Imagine if even only once in your entire adult life you saw a bear pull out a laser beam and disintegrate your homie standing right next to you. Even if every other bear never did it again, you would never not think of that. A leopard has some degree of awareness of the devastation of humans especially large caliber weapons. It makes perfect sense. I’ve been hunting in Kodiak and even those bears understand rifle fire. We were charged from distance by a large brown after spray seemed to keep the curious adolescent at bay until we realized 5 minutes later it was just pissed off and only startled. The MOMENT my Marlin 1895 cracked it stopped in its and 180ed. I had every right to plink it but on a prayer hoped one final warning shot would suffice. The only animals documented to not care about any threat a human can pose not even trying to conceal itself retreat or avoid are polar bears. If you can fog a mirror, you’re on the menu. And if you don’t have a weapon or enforced structure and it sees you, you’re dead. Amazing to your point even African Apex have such fear associations. I only mention the anecdote to contrast the utter lack of fear by comparison others don’t have
