You got ppl out here fearing animals there’s almost no chance in HELL they ever even get close to encountering. You wonder why animals gets bad reputations . The amount of squid in the ocean and the utter lack of documented deaths speaks volumes. Even the incident you’re citing, the researcher noted that the squid surveyed him after the initial attack and was deciphering his threat level and if he was what the largest squid thought holding off the attack of the other smaller ones. Then the largest squid darted off ultimately deciding the researcher wasn’t food. But again the researcher noted the squid was capable of getting into his custom armor with a little more effort and it seemed to know it. Quit telling ppl this squid is a monster haha it’s an animal. If these squid attacked animals bc of their growth rate, there would be MANY deaths. They don’t even eat fish half their size. So no they don’t just attack things smaller than them. So not only will you never see them except for the insanely rare moments that seem to be documented by researchers bc of the depth they reside, but there’s almost 0.0% chance they’d be interested in you
