You’ve left out a tremendous amount of verified, documented information on this specific front that paints an entirely different image. A part of his job was being legally licensed. It’s documented that he did not have the credentials to hold his position. It was also a very high paying job and there was some evidence he was living at or beyond his means. But to him, it makes sense he’d never question his income source as a dramatic shift in such a niche role in the local government is impossibly unlikely. He’s spent a career essentially doing something he’s not going to be able to do anymore and had no other real experiences. If he got fired, he’d lose more than just his job. He’d lose his life, his money, his status, etc. and the ONLY reason this was happened was solely because one person petitioned to have him investigated. You’re telling me you can’t understand how a man who is about to lose his livelihood and even worse, his status and power which make up his identify, would feel his back is against the ropes leading to him just deciding to remove the one threat to his entire existence? I can’t think of a stronger motive.
