You guys are weird. They own the property. It was developed with their audience, their money, their writers, their editors, their time, their travel , their gear. When you fund an idea, you profit of it. Thats just how life works. Ryan and Shane didn’t write these and they didn’t edit these or rent the studio to film them or hire the staff to produce it. They levered the existing audience via the company that was paying them a fair wage . Like all things when something is created with one company, you don’t get to just run with it once it works lol imaging developing a formula for some type of organic compound using P&G labs then take the formula to make your own competitive deodorant haha I joke but I work at p&G and IP is a huge thing. Your patents stay, you got them using the millions of worth of tech in labs. Just like the unsolved IP was developed via the resources of the company. It doesn’t exist without that support. Hopefully a full explanation helps provide context of how media specifically works. Your comment shows a lack of understanding of just how business works. Of course they are profiting . They paid for it. And part of their parting deal likely would have been a quiet period as is customary to let them grow brand equity then buzzfeed resumes posting the content they owned.
