@drhouse6165 it’s so bizarre I’ve never seen ppl switch to this thinking. Chrome LITERALLY WAS HACKED 3 days ago. My former career was on algorithmic consumer behavior which is different technically than the software side but it relies on an influx of data. It seems ppl innately and subconsciously fear data going international but are okay with domestic abuses of privacy. If you don’t want to use opera, I can assure you it specifically data privacy is your concern, chrome is significantly “worse” bc we hear about these breaches.

…. Literally go to the legal statements on their websites that are very clearly marked. How the hell does this have so many likes haha it’s a ridiculous statement. They are headquartered in Norway. So Norwegian law is what they use as far as data. The data is on European servers. There’s no company like this that wouldn’t promise to not sell data. Opera is no different. It doesn’t mean there’s no back door but if that’s your argument and fear without much technical savvy then getting on the internet period would be a struggle for you

This reminds of the 1973 Aconcagua expedition where the two died right as the country had a coup d'état so no ruling occurred officially but it was heavily reasoned it was, at best, manslaughter, but more likely murder. Apologies if you’ve already covered it I only recently read about it somehow despite consuming much of the mountaineering incidents or so I thought. Found it after they found Johnson’s camera and was able to even develop the film on the glacier nearly half a century after she died
